So how does I66 work now without tolls?

Anonymous
I drive to the office alone once a week and just use the EZpass Flex to go in for free. I'm surprised you all talk about how there's no enforcement about anything here but then go and pay tolls (or drive in the sucker lane) in real life.

So the new express lanes are toll only, not HOT lanes?

What do you mean by “hot lane”, like what do you think that means?

I only go in once a week, too, and have seen people pulled over for (my guess is) doing this. Before the tolls, I took my then baby to daycare using the toll road and we were pulled over a couple times because the officer didn't see the car seat/my passenger when it was HOV 2.

Express - faster, pay toll, can use even for less than 3 people
Regular lanes - 3+, no toll
Regular lanes - less than 3, pay tolls

Not quite.

Outside the Beltway:
-Express lanes always have a toll, unless HOV 3+ with EZpass Flex.
-Regular lanes have no toll, regardless of time or number of riders.

Inside the Beltway:
-During morning rush hour eastbound traffic is HOV3+ with EZpass Flex, or you pay a variable toll. The same applies for westbound traffic during evening commute.
-All other hours there is no toll, regardless of riders
.

Yes this is correct.

They don’t pull you over anymore bc they cant see if you have the flex on or not. They take pictures and send you a ticket if you have less than 3 with the flex on.

should that say no toll?

It's correct regular lanes, fewer than 3, you must pay the toll

Inside the Beltway, during rush hour. Otherwise, regular lanes have no toll.

Nothing has changed inside the beltway, in other words.

Nothing has changed inside the beltway, in other words.

Only that it went from HOV 2+ to HOV3+

it definitely looks like the GOV did the signs...

The same thing happened to us. They swapped the exits! Eastbound used to come before westbound, but now it’s the other way around.

Whoever was responsible for this change should be fired from their job. How do you make such a huge change to traffic pattern and not post signs warning about it?

And you can pay to use 66 inside the beltway if you have <3 passengers.

What do you mean? What’s the question

I'm so mad about the switch from HOV2 to HOV3 - totally unnecessary, especially after the pandemic!
