Sidwell or St. Albans

All Met is HS players which is what the poster was referring to. MD public HS plays in the fall.

Uh, Sidwell isn't in Va., where the public schools play spring soccer.

MCPS HS plays in the fall.

different parent here, this is correct, my kid in MCPS played soccer last fall, not this spring.

Sidwell had 1 All-Met First Teamer, 1 All-Met Second Teamer, and 1 All-Met Honorable Mention this fall. Re basketball, yes STA is in a tougher league, but Sidwell has a top 10 DC player right now and STA has had a down cycle for basketball (only 1 league win this year, maybe 2 the year before). So again, in your son's sports Sidwell is a good option. (I have ties to both schools, and think both are great; and agree that overall sports are stronger at STA.)

Don't pick either school for sports unless you think he is going to play in college. Then it becomes a bigger deal. STA is great but has no girls. Sidwell is great but plays in softer athletic leagues. What you really need to do is find out what the kids are like at each school in the class that your hypothetical kid would hypothetically enter.

You're an idiot. Wow. The All-Met roster that came out was for SPRING VIRGINIA PUBLIC SCHOOL BOYS SOCCER because they play their season IN THE SPRING. This is unique to VIRGINIA PUBLIC SCHOOLS. Everyone else plays in the Fall. And Sidwell had 3 players named to the Fall All-Met team last fall and 5 in Fall 2008. Get your facts before you scrutinize.

OK, I think we've established that the soccer poster doesn't know anything about high school soccer schedules. The real question is about the OP, who, if a real poster, is apparently willing to spend $34,000 to hold a spot at an extra school because she and her son haven't been able to make a decision between 2 schools since the decisions were mailed on March 8th. Even if you've got plenty of money that seems like a waste. And it is also unfair to the family that might be on the waitlist at one of those schools (which yes, happens to be my family)

this is not a real question. It was just an effort to distract from the story of the day.

Agreed. But some people have a lot of money. And some people aren't always fair. Sucks, but it's true.

Yes, I think you are right. Timing is way off.

All the MCPS players on my son's travel team, middle schoolers, are playing soccer this spring.

Agreed. This is just bait from someone fishing for a fight.

No, OP hasn't spent an extra $34,000 yet to hold a spot at a second school. She's probably paid two deposits of $1000 each. STA's tuition is due until July 3, and perhaps Siwell's is due around that time, too.

FYI MD public and VA, MD and Dc private all play soccer in the fall. Only VA public plays soccer in the spring.

TO BE VERY CLEAR. WE ARE ONLY TALKING ABOUT HIGH SCHOOL. ALL MET IS ONLY HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS. WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT MIDDLE SCHOOL.
