I love sports but hate football

Only exception to this might be skiing (definitely a rich man’s sport), but that’s truly an addiction.

Lots of recent NFL flame outs (Zach Wilson, Baker Mayfield) were rich kids.

I've stopped watching because of the head injury issues, but football is probably the sport I enjoy watching most. It's slower, but the chess match aspect of figuring out how to counter what the other team's doing is fascinating. There's elements of that in all sports, obviously, but football really lays it bare in ways that I love to watch.

How many deaths on a NASCAR race has there been?

NP here. When I get into a game, I actually enjoy football. What I hate is the whole spectacle around it. I hate the endless yammer before, during and after games. I hate how so much of American life is centered around the sports and I really hate the football-patriotism link.

I also have very mixed feelings about what feels at times like the exploitation of young Black men. But, that's a whole other thread.

What I find interesting is that NASCAR really is a rich man's sport. It is likely one of the most expensive sports for a kid to enter. More and more only the rich are able to participate that is why there are so many 2nd and 3rd generation NASCAR drivers. They start in the go-cart circuit.

You hate it because you don't understand it. LOL. I can name many other sports that are dangerous as well.

In football, the "overweight" athletes are mainly the defenders. If you knew a bit more there is a reason WHY they need the extra weight/muscle. Those guys are solid rocks!
Ignorance at its best!

BTW- I'm not American and my #1 sport is Soccer but honestly once you understand some Football you learn to love it. I enjoy watching College Football with my kids.
