| I grew up in Europe and was never able to get into American football. I don’t get the appeal. It’s a dangerous sport in which the athletes are either overweight, bran injured or both. And don’t get me started on the endless commercials. |
| I grew up in the US and love American football. I wish I didn't, I completely agree that it can be dangerous and I didn't let my son play football. But it's in my DNA to be a fan. |
|
I grew up in the US and find football boring to watch. I never liked it on tv or in person since games are so slow. Then I ended up with a DH and DS who love it. My son plays and I support him.
Anyone else have a random opinion to share? |
| I hate pineapples on pizza. |
| I love food but hate mushrooms. |
| I hate soccer. I’ll never understand it: only watch one game every 4 years. Soccer is not an elite level sport. If USA put their top athletes on USA soccer, no team would ever beat them. |
|
American Football is just so stupid.
The turn over of the teams means that no one player is versatile, and some players are just on the field to bang their heads into other men repeatedly. Dangerous and not very athletic. Last night was very sad to watch. |

I felt that way and put my son in soccer where he suffered 2 traumatic concussions and his best friend broke his back.
His football friends never suffered such traumatic injuries. |
I'm glad the other people from Europe I've met are not like you. |
| Very poor timing for this thread. Do better. |
On the contrary, this thread likely originated from the events of last night. Dangerous, dumb sport. (NP here.) |
So do people hate lacross and baseball equally? This medical incident is more prominent in baseball than any other sport. https://www.usalaxmagazine.com/high-school/boys/those-who-rushed-to-peter-laakes-aid-detail-how-they-saved-his-life |
The last two professional athletes to have cardiac arrests on the field were playing soccer at the time |
This. I'm enjoying it less and considering whether to let our kids even continue with flag football as I've seen at least two significant injuries in the middle school ages. Other physical sports like soccer or lacrosse aren't always less dangerous especially as the kids become stronger athletes. |

This is why rich people play squash, golf, rowing, tennis, etc. Let the plebes break their bodies at a young age for other’s entertainment.
Only exception to this might be skiing (definitely a rich man’s sport), but that’s truly an addiction. |
