Your parents gave you 2k so you could enjoy it, don't overthink this.

Not PP but we are art collectors and also bought art as gifts to ourselves. It’s an stunner and our investments are appreciating beautifully.

That is one of the most useful thing to give. Save half and use the other half on a trip. And if the trip can include the grandparents, they would be very happy.

I’m super-practical: start a savings account for each DC and add a modest amount or minimum like $200.

Give them modest gift cards for Target, like $25 -$50. Shop with DC early in the year or bring the cards along next time you shop.

Think of a “family” gift you’d like or would all enjoy/use. Discuss with DC of there’s something special that you all could buy or do together. Past examples from my house included a gumball machine on a stand, a portable fire pit, way back when, a Wii.

Bank the test and have fun planning maybe a family trip or a long weekend away - doesn’t have to be elaborate-but make sure you treat yourselves to a dinner out or room service and then you tell the grandparents and DC that this is part of the gift from the grandparents. Take photos and share w the grandparents when you do this.
