I hated the 80s during the 80s

Best decade ever! I was in my 20s and on top of the world!

No on the fashion. Laura Ashley dresses if you were in private school, parachute pants if you were in public. Flipped and feathered hair in public, bob cut if private. Mia flats for private, jelly shoes for public. It’s almost as if there was a uniform code.

We had all of that at my UMC HS in the northeast.

Yeah Laura Ashley was the goal for graduation dresses from my public middle school.

Yep. Same at my public HS right here in NoVA.

The 80s was the decade when even great artists made terrible music — so many duets.

We had all that except Mia flats which I’ve never heard of at my public HS in the middle of nowhere. The Laura Ashley dresses were for church, events with grandma, confirmation, and some parties. I had no parachute pants but did have fabulous high waisted wide leg esprit pants in lapis blue with an enormous diamond pattern. They were so awesome with a matching cropped sleeveless sweatshirt.
The music was great, the politics was kind of awful, and people made a lot of inappropriate and hurtful jokes.
