Yep same old story. Nothing new here other than the OP trying to get more mileage out of an old story.

A new report released yesterday with details about MCPS administrators misusing credit cards is the same old story. It's why teachers are on DonorsChoose begging for money for classroom supplies.

Maybe teachers would like to know that MCPS administrators can buy kayak covers with MCPS credit cards and don't have to go to DonorsChoose?

This was public months ago. There's nothing new here.

How is an Investigation that was just made public yesterday also public months ago? Maybe wake up and read for once? Collecting a MCPS check for posting drivel?

It was in the paper months ago back when it happened. Nothing new..

That's impossible. The Investigative Report was just released yesterday. How much are you paid to keep posting this over and over? Got some MCPS Gift Cards in your wallet?

NP. You understand that investigations are about things that happened in the past right? Did you know about January 6th before the House committee? Same thing.

I didn't need to watch the hearings to be honest. It was clear they tried to overthrow the gov back when it happened. The rest was just grandstanding. If it were up to me they'd be in jail by now.

Yes, the facts were clear. We saw the footage on TV. A bunch of grandstanding didn't help. Hold people accountable and move on. With MCPS it's the same old rehash of an old scandal that everyone already understood. The OP just loves to wring out every bit of mileage out of these to get their axe grinding on.

You saw the footage of what on TV? That the Board of Education didn't order a full audit? That they spent hundreds of thousands on an audit but didn't complete it? That the DOT administrators renovated a bus depot that was supposed to be closed? That the DOT director wasn't fired? Wow. You are good. None of that was in any news report, but you knew it without this Report. Guess you work for MPCS?

Sure, it's all old news, but don't let that stop you from getting your axe grind on.

New poster here and now I'm getting annoyed by the "old news" poster. You doth protest too much. I don't remember ever seeing that list of inappropriate items that administrators purchased using their MCPS-issued credit cards. If that PP is the MCPS PR person, they are really, really bad because all they're doing is irritating me and making me think they're hiding even more.

No the "old news" posters (there's more than one of us) are just people who follow the news well enough to already know what happened and find pretending like there was another scandal to be dishonest. We also don't need a list of what was inappropriately bought to care, but maybe some people do.

Honestly, I think the tiresome constant dumbest of MCPS SCANDAL from types like OP does more harm than good. OP looks like a deranged loon ranting, and that makes it harder, not easier, to deal with actual problems (which this understandably is).

+1 If you read the report, it is the same two individuals who were implicated earlier in the year. Yes, this report has a longer list of the prohibited or personal use items that they purchased, but it also has a longer list of the reforms MCPS has undertaken as a result. This is OP's second post in one day about this topic, and the first had a headline clearly aiming to make the rest of us believe this was a brand new scandal with brand new perpetrators.

Yes, this is bad, but I'm actually heartened that it was: A) Caught in an internal audit; B) Followed up on appropriately; C) Criminally prosecuted; and D) Followed by an assessment and evaluation of how to avoid it being repeated. Bad actors exist, but good system (like internal audits!) can help ameliorate the impact of those bad actors.

And clearly you didn't read the report at all. The report says it was not followed up appropriately, the internal audit was never completed, there was no criminal prosecution, the BOE did not follow up on this at all and hasn't implemented the needed safeguards to avoid repetition.

The conclusion of the Report is that the BOE is not safeguarding education funds.

I couldn't agree more! There are things that I wish were different about MCPS. I wish there was more differentiated instruction or more special programs. I don't need to rehash minute details of old scandals.

Why would you want those things that mcps has never done and never will. Stop harping on things that won't ever exist. Keep yourself busy going to target to buy gifts for teachers. Don't dwell on the impossible.

Things I am interested in: MCPS procedures to prevent financial wrong-doing, including improper use of MCPS credit cards

Things I have zero interest in: a list of specific items improperly bought by the same people have already been fired for financial wrong-doing, including improper use of MCPS credit cards

It's the same poster who holds a grudge and looks for any issue, no matter how small, to justify their grievances.

Exactly, and when there finally is a real issue, nobody will listen because of all their wolf crying
