| Considered rich to who exactly? After a certain point it’s all relative to your circle. |
| Paradoxically the only way you could live the lifestyle of a "rich" person on $198K in DC is by living somewhere no rich person would ever want to live, thereby making your lifestyle not rich. |
| A rich person in DC doesn't have a salary. They have wealth that grows. And they have nothing in common with me. And the growth of their wealth depends on large companies and public institutions make decisions that go against the public good most of the time. |
*making decisions |
| Rich is in the eye of the beholder. I grew knowledge LMC and I feel rich because I can buy out-of-season produce, lessons for my kids, and vacations that require a plane ride. Some people on this board can do all that and feel “solidly middle class.” |
| Who cares! |
| $350K is the entry point now. |
| If you have to work, you’re not rich. End of story. |
I mean, maybe, but lots of people who think they’re middle class or UMC wouldn’t have to work if they didn’t also “have” to have a bunch of UMC lifestyle trappings. Either they’re 5 years away from a lean FIRE net worth or they already have one. |
| $10M in stocks/bonds is the answer to this question. |
Rental real estate doesn't count? |
