DS would like to see these schools but I realize there is likely no way to see them all and trying to get the best bang for our buck that week. Ideally we would be doing actual organized tours and not just self-guided. We would be flying out of Boston and would rent a car once we land in wherever. Open to one way- BOS - CLT then drive, fly home ATL- BOS, for example.

Clemson
UT Knoxville
Alabama
Auburn
UGA

Admission standards are much higher for UGa than for the other schools on your list. The University of South Carolina might be an option to consider for one thinking about Auburn, Tennessee, Alabama, and Clemson. The University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in Oxford, Mississippi fits in better as well.

Clemson’ s standards were pretty close If not the same as UGA for early action and acceptance rate expected to fall below 40 percent. I would say it is closer to UGA than the other schools.

Just tour the schools he gets into.

I don't know about those schools specifically, but some schools track "demonstrated interest." Touring in person is not the only way to show demonstrated interest, though.

Also touring may lead to some schools being dropped and that saves the time and effort associated with that application for another school.

+1. My friend spent thousands of dollars flying across the country for tours for her older son. Then he enrolled in Emory site unseen. She says her younger son will tour schools he’s accepted to.

I liked to plan for a half day per school. It gives time for the tour, along with seeing the town and/or eating in the dining hall. Good luck
