best hot chocolate mix?

I love the suggestions so far but will also note that my MIL gave me a huge thing of Starbucks hot chocolate powdered mix a few years ago and it was surprisingly really tasty. So that's an option too if you don't want to mess with some of the more complicated options.

Mix the cocoa powder and sugar with a splash a water in the pan until it is a smooth paste, then add milk and wisk well while heating. Splash of vanilla at the end or some heavy cream. I make homemade whipped cream if I have cream on hand, otherwise I throw some marshmallows in the mug.

This is exactly how I make it. Sans marshmallows because none of us like marshmallows.

Same. Nothing better, and it's only a couple extra steps compared to the packets.

Do you want hot chocolate, or hot cocoa? I think of hot chocolate as the European style drink made with real chocolate and whole milk. Served in small cups.
Hot cocoa uses sugar and cocoa powder.

I've never heard of this or seen it. Where do you find it?
