What's the best that you can buy, and make at home?
|
| You can also buy Mexican chocolate (in lieu of the Nestle rip off) and blend it into warm milk. |
| So I just started putting a small spoonful of Nutella in my kids hot chocolate and she thinks it’s the best thing. It does mean I have to use the blender so more effort but oh well. I use Nesquik choc powder as well. Whipped cream on top, always., |
| Williams Sonoma hot chocolate used to be wonderful - I haven't had it in a while so I don't know if it still is. |
| Trader Joe’s |
| I don't know about mixes, but for homemade I like French style hot chocolate. I use David Lebovitz's recipe. It's basically high quality chocolate melted into milk and whisked and heated until thick. You can also add sugar to taste. |
This sounds delicious too: "Mumbai hot chocolate actually uses white chocolate as its base, which is then blended with ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, and peppercorn. The result is a flavorful and rich cup of hot chocolate that will challenge your notion of the classic drink." |
| I use cocoa powder, add vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and dark or semisweet chocolate— to taste. Then mix with water or milk. Some people add sugar but the chocolate chips make it sweet enough for me. |

Sillycow Farms mix in a glass bottle. I’ve found it at Safeway and sometimes Giant. Mix with milk, not water.
For a big crowd, I like to make it in my slow cooker with a gallon of milk, 2 cans sweetened condensed milk, 24 oz chocolate chips, and a splash of vanilla. |
| The recipe on thr Hershey’s unsweetened cocoa powder tin. |
| LA Burdick (there’s a store in Georgetown) has really really good powdered hot chocolate |
| The Hershey's recipe. |
| Hot chocolate from the gas station is my favorite😊 |
| I make a simple hot cocoa at home. The recipe is 1 tbls sugar, 1 tbls good quality Dutch cocoa powder, 1 cup milk- per serving. Multiple by however many cups you want to make. Mix the cocoa powder and sugar with a splash a water in the pan until it is a smooth paste, then add milk and wisk well while heating. Splash of vanilla at the end or some heavy cream. I make homemade whipped cream if I have cream on hand, otherwise I throw some marshmallows in the mug. |
