$40 x 11 plus $80 = $520 which I'd bet is A LOT more than you tip// |
| I tip at the end of the year. I calculate it by the # of cleanings (26 if every 2 weeks), multiples by 20 (what I would’ve tipped for each cleaning). So, around $520. Split that between the 2 cleaners. |
This is good amount. |
That is over $500 a year - not cheap |

I don’t like big companies because I observed the staff changed all the time and some didn’t stay long through the year. Hard to know if your Christmas tip is getting to the people who put in the most work through the year so you may want to consider a small per visit tip.
With my individual cleaner I do a larger end of year tip because I don’t have to worry about above. |

I think if you have a housecleaner who is reliable, punctual, trustworthy as well as does a FANTASTIC job then a tip is appreciated after each cleaning 🧹.
Because cleaning is very hard work. Even harder when you have to clean for someone else - sometimes meeting other’s standards can be tough! And a larger holiday tip will be much appreciated. Only give as much as you can. |
| I tipped $20 each for the monthly clean. Not the same crew each time. |
| My house cleaner comes on Tuesdays. The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, I give her a tip that's two weeks pay. That way she can take advantage of Black Tuesday and Cyber Monday sales. She is wonderful and worth every penny. |

The company we use has barely raised our rate in a looooong time, even when we moved to a larger house. So I tip our cleaner 20% in cash every week since I know damn well it takes her longer than it used to. I also tip her one cleaning’s worth at the holidays.
I’m a teacher married to a graphic designer, btw. We don’t make a ton but this saves our sanity, and she works so hard. |
|
Do I tip if it is just one person who comes and it is her own company? The amount she is charging is healthy, so not sure if it is ok to just slip in another $20 or if I need to do a full 20% - which would be a very big bump up

Even though this thread is three yrs. old, someone on here revived it so I am assuming because they would like to know what is proper or not.
Personally….. I feel if you have a good cleaner or cleaning crew & they are dependable, punctual, responsible/trustworthy, thorough ➕ follow instructions well I would offer them a tip on top of their cleaning salary. Because let’s face it - - cleaning 🧹 is hard, physical labor. Especially when you have to clean 🧽 to someone else’s standards. And the pay is very low and benefits are usually nil. I would also offer them a nice bonus when the holidays roll around too.

This is a perfect example of a client who truly appreciates all the ways a housecleaner makes their lives easier! |
| If two cleaners twice a month that clean for two hours with $180 to company, how much and when to tip? For each? |
| When I had people from a service coming, I gave each person who cleaned that day (it was usually 2, but occasionally a team of 3 arrived) $20 in cash. It was not always the same team -- so just giving a holiday tip would not have helped them. |
No. No tip. I do give a Christmas bonus equal to the price of one cleaning. Also, I give 5% raise each year (because my DH insists). |
