No, you don't have to explain or articulate the reason. Just a note to the counselor and all teachers that Larlo will miss classes Dec xx - Jan xx due to religious reasons.

Most teachers do not make kids suffer for their parents vacation choices. You do not have to lie.

Wouldn't this be more of a function of where you are visiting? For example, a country like the PRC has restrictive internets so may cause issues.

No because MCPS has parent vue and student but set up so that they don’t work outside the US.
