How important is brand recognition to you? How much do you spend on vegan leather vs. real leather?

And let me be the first to tell you that we don't care what you think! I'm glad you're not in charge of overseeing my food and fashion decisions.

Whoa Someone's a little low in iron today

To my dying day I will never understand why DCUM is so anti-vegetarian and vegan. Yeah, you're great, you eat animals - go you. What a bold choice! How unconventional! How not like other girls, you are. Your husband will never cheat on you and your kids will all get into Harvard, mother superior.

What the heck is wrong with you? Why are you this angry over someone else's opinion that you disagree with? And nowhere did I say I was anti-vegan, you went way off the rails on that one. You are projecting your feelings here, but hey if that makes you feel better go for it. I feel bad for you that you carry so much hatred around with you all day long like this. It's bad for your health.

I’m fine with leather. I’m not a vegetarian so cows are dying for me anyway. Cows are not endangered. I like that leather means you use every part of the cow. Leather is also sustainable as it lasts a long time, whereas “vegan leather” is just a petroleum product.

I don't care about any of this, as I am too cheap, but I have friends and family who care about labels. They always look nice and pulled together, so there is that.

I eat animals so that I won't die, since that is the best source of iron (no beans and greens are not enough, for me and my body) and I don't want to get iron infusions for the rest of my life. I don't care what you do.

Iron infusions?! I've been vegetarian for 40 years and my iron levels are fine. Where do you people get this nonsense from?

I purposely purchase lesser known brands (that are still expensive, but not as much as luxury) that put a lot of effort into sourcing the best leathers and stellar craftsmanship- not made in China.

Good leather wears so beautiful with time and use.

Absolutely wonderful bags are made in China. Including brands I suspect you’d never guess. This is out-of-date ignorance.

DP but everyone’s body is different and some people do very poorly without animal protein. I am one such person and I compensate with oysters.

That's great! I'm not sure how it's relevant to this thread. Maybe you and your oysters can move over to the food forum. OP was asking about leather bags, then some nutjob came in to say that she loooooves meat and loooooves leather - and we're all really psyched she's found meaning in life, but neither that nor you and your oysters are really helping OP with her bag choice.

I agree with this. Cows are not raised for leather in comparison to, say, crocs, stingray. There’s definitely an ethical argument in favor of cow leather.

No pleather tote is worth more than $70. None, zero.
Go to walmart and get a fake purse if that is what you want.

You questioned infusions dear. If you’d like to ask about it in the Health forum go at it, but you asked here instead for some reason.

Most of my purses are used purchased through therealreal or poshmark. I do like Stella McCartney's vegan bags. They look and feel like real suede, if not better.

My guess is the veggies have mushed your brain. I am anemic, which is why a vegetarian nor vegan diet works for me and my body.

It's relevant because someone decided to denigrate people who eat animals vs choosing a vegetarian or vegan lifestyle. Some of our bodies won't work on just twigs and berries and whatever that is in impossible burger.
