Ellicott City and Clarksville are very different from each other. Clarksville is fringe-rural with large tract-mansions on large lots, whereas Ellicott City has a good bit of density compared to Clarksville and feels more purely suburban. |

Having lived in both, I don't fine a lot of similarities.
Silver Spring : Arlington mostly works, maybe a little McLean. Clarendon is more like downtown Bethesda. There are neighborhood parallels, like Carderock : Hollin Hills. Annandale : Wheaton. Great Falls : Potomac works. Downtown Leesburg : Downtown Frederick. Ashburn : Kentlands. |

Vienna - Chevy Chase
McLean - Bethesda (Area near Mass Ave/ Westgate/Somerset) Oakton - Potomac/North Bethesda Chantilly - Laurel/Hanover Manassas - Waldorf Old Town( City of Alex) - Annapolis Dumfries - White Hall/Pomfret/Mechanicsville Ashburn - Crofton Great Falls - The area where Bethesda and Potomac meet by the CVS and Giant if you keep straight on River Rd Fairfax (city) - Derwood Lorton - Leonardtown |
| Curious what the NOVA equivalent for Kensington is! |
Falls Church |

What’s MD equivalent of Pimmit Hills?

20 years ago, Wheaton. |

Bethesda is not McLean.
Bethesda is somewhere in North Arlington (metro access, high-rises and super expensive SFH, good schools) |
Bethesda is better though. |
Kensington has a very small walkable downtown area. Housing is / was relatively affordable. I lIve in FCC and have a walk score of 95. I'd say more like Chevy Chase but smaller (no mall). |
| Also Manassas is NOT Waldorf! Waldorf has some of the better schools south of National Harbor. Can't say the same for Manassas! Maybe in the urban sprawl with malls they are similar. |
On the other hand Manassas also has a walkable city center with cute shops, bars and restaurants and train service via VRE and Amtrak, surrounded by a historic district. |
I have to say, I believe the closest equivalent to Manassas is Waldorf. Having lived in Waldorf and have close friends in Manassas, Gainesville and Warrenton/Remington. Gainesville is too new/modern for Waldorf and Waldorf isn’t PW equivalent Dale City or Woodbridge so the closest equivalent is Waldorf being closest IMO to Manassas than any other Northern VA town/city. |
Yes can agree- we live in north potomac and the choice was between Great Falls and here (travilah). We are horse people, car people, limited commute into the city for both jobs, kids have tons of activities within 15 minutes. |
Seems the most accurate so far. |
