Deliberately sparse Christmas trees — chic or ridiculous?

Oops! You’re right—I accidentally posted the wrong picture. Here’s the fully decorated one. And this is an artificial tree, BTW. Pretty sure it’s Balsam Hill.

Ugh. We temporarily own two trees . Both are hand-me-downs. The larger one arrived yesterday. The smaller one will be traveling to its forever home in the spring. We specifically decided to give the smaller one away so our kids don’t grow up thinking this.

I decorate my tree like the first one. I prefer it paired down. One year I even bought a tree and did nothing to it because it was just that beautiful all on its own. The tree we cut down this year is very tall but sparse. The pickings were very slim. There is still a shortage.

Are you talking about the style of tree or the number of ornaments? I love the sparse trees but you can’t get them on this coast. On the west coast they are more normal and you can see through to the ornaments in the back of the tree.

I really like them! But it doesn’t seem like anyone sells them at the tree lots around here.

Our tree only has sentimental ornaments on it, plus lights, so it’s never super decorated. I like it, though.

The type of tree. People are buying artificial ones, so it isn’t just a matter of necessity due to shortages. Apparently flocked/frosted trees are also back in style.

There’s no one way to celebrate Christmas and it’s rude for no reason to insult other people’s decorations.

Nope. I like my tree so full of ornaments some are touching. I don’t care for the cold interior decorated look. I like to feel like the house looks as living as our family actually is. These sparse trees look like something your find in the corner at home goods.
