PP here, according to the Nymbler website, Addison was #12 and Natalie was #13 in 2008. So they're both pretty popular right now. |
Natalie is adorable.
I hate Addison. Reminds me of other trendy overused non-names like Madison, Bailey, Riley, etc. |
I personally love the name Addison. If I could have convinced my husband, our little girl would be named Addison.
But, I also love Natalie. ... sorry, I know that was NO help. |
I much prefer Natalie. Both names are popular, as the poster above suggested, but Addison seems trendier. It has moved up the charts from #322 in 2000 to #12 today, whereas Natalie has moved up less precipitously, from #34 in 2000 to #16 today. (2009 figures from the Social Security names page.)
Addison is also somewhat more unisex. It is falling in popularity for boys (was #514 in 2000, now #866) but is still in use for boys Other possibilities (also from nymbler, based on Natalie and Addison): Ella Charlotte Abigail Amelia Anna Audrey Rose Laurel Leah Julia Sarah |
Neither. (Sorry.) |
How about Natalia? Lots of cute nicknames: Talia, Tally, Lia.
Addison just reminds me of David Addison from Moonlighting. And FWIW, we just got back from a week at Sea Colony and we ran into three adorable toddlers all named Addison or Adelyn. I personally love the following names: Lila Amy Kelly Elisa Chloe Maeve |
I much prefer Natalie over Addison. |
Also hate Addison--sounds like you're trying too hard (like Peyton, Normandie, etc.). Natalie is nice. |
Natalie!!
That's my name and I have always been so happy that my mother chose it. (I actually had a difficult time choosing names for my girls because I love my name so much but I did not want a Natalie Jr. thing. My gosh, I sound so conceited - but really - I love it. Thanks Mom!). |
Addison just reminds me of Private Practice and Greys Anatomy. |
OP here. I love Natalie too! I keep looking through the baby name books and nothing else jumps out at me. I just can't believe how few names I like. I was thinking the same thing about my name too- it would be on the list except I don't like the jr thing for girls. Mine's Rebecca and I went by Becka growing up which isn't really that unusual, but I also didn't have any other Becka's or Becca's in my class. I use Rebecca professionally now that I'm older. What did you end up naming your girls? |
Hey OP. It's me, Natalie 21:30. I have twin girls. Eva (EEEva, not Ava) is named after one of my husband's grandmothers and Stella (a name that he really liked). I ended up not having a name that I really really loved but I really like these two names - plus the girls are growing into them nicely. Rebecca is a great name - it would not have worked with us because of someone close to us (that we really like, BTW). |
I am mom to a Natalie so I'm very biased. I love it! Go for it! And we never call her Nat -- just Natalie.
Addison seems too trendy. |
I much prefer Natalie...and I like Tally as a nickname. Since I had boys I never got to use my girl names, so here you go:
Belle Genevieve Delaney (nickname Laney) Wynne Elsie Blythe |
My thoughts exactly!! Addison strikes me as completely trendy. I'm guessing it's rise in popularity correllates with the TV character in Greys Anatomy/Private Practice. Ugh. Natalie is a more timeless name, and yet it's not terribly common. Great for both a child and an adult, and feminine without being frilly. Thumbs up!! |
