If anyone from Alexandria will be in the running for it, it's Gaskins.

He could never be worse than the wife beater, Jim Moran.

True. I have voted for Wilson for Mayor but would not cast a ballot for Moran (he also took what amounted to bribes from credit card companies)

Moran's son is a chip off the old abuser of women block. At least a man who slammed his girlfriend's face into a metal trash can didn't get elected to council. I was actually pleasantly surprised by that.

Why do you think he dismisses some of his city council colleagues? I get the urge to be dismissive of Amy Jackson but I don't understand John Chapman. Chapman is the one with generations of roots in Alexandria, he owns a business here and frankly, he's carried Wilson's water on issues taking certain votes so that Wilson doesn't have to.

Chapman shouldn't have to put up with what I saw at the hearing. It's was so disrespectful and unprofessional.

Amy Jackson certainly had a lot to say about Wilson before the election.

Given recent events in Alexandria with the BIPOC grants program...Will Chapman have to carry Wilson's water again?

Wilson has a history of denying support for issues if they turn out to be unpopular (housing on school grounds, he was fine with it in meetings and the housing summit before plans were made public, SROs in schools).

The plan is just plain foolish from a legal perspective so Wilson will likely walk away from it. Leaving Chapman to be the lead voice in support.

Justin is smart. But he in a pedantic little prick. I've disliked him since our children played soccer together for several years at ASA. He was aloof and always stood isolated and alone along the sidelines. He never engaged other parents at all. Fortunately, he has a very nice spouse. Chapman, on the other hand, doesn't appear to be very smart at all. While he's nice and seems like a good dude, he's really a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, from a legislative standpoint.

I can always gauge people's intelligence if they are impressed by Wilson's newsletter.

Even if Chapman isn't that bright (I disagree that he's nice - he's nasty and condescending), I find it pathetic that he's just there to provide cover for Wilson when he doesn't want to upset his "mom mob".

I don't read the newsletter, but you've got to admit it is smart of him to send it out. He is smart in how he deals directly with constituents over trivial matters. I'm not really sure who on the Council would possibly be sharper or smarter than him. It's not Canek, that's for sure.
