Fiction involving college/acedemia

Romance between a professor and (24 yo) student.

Dear Mr. Brody, by AM Johnson

Epistolary at times. This book is the third in a four-book series, but each is a standalone book about different people. it’s just that its an interconnected universe and some characters are referenced from the prior books.

Another +1 for A Secret History. Isn’t that the book that made Donna Tartt’s reputation? And I hated The Goldfinch.

I absolutely LOVED that book. Laughed out loud throughout!

I'm not even a baseball fan, and I loved this book. Great story with lots of depth.

I love The Art of Fielding. Agree with the poster who spoke of its depth.

The Secret History is in a class by itself. Every other dark academia book tries to be it, and fails.

For a very funny, laugh out loud book, try Moo by Jane Smiley. I find it hilarious, and as a former academic, very true to life.

From a long long time ago (1912), Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster. Epistolary style, lots of fun.

If you want a faster, fun read, Ali Hazelwood writes contemporary romance that always features a female heroine working in STEM. Her fist book took place at Stanford.

Along those lines, you might also like Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus.

I adored that book! Six Thirty has my heart.

Another vote for Crossing to Safety by Wallace Stegner. Love everyone wrote, but Crossing to Safety is one of his best.

I clicked on this thread specifically to recommend this book. One of Russo's best, imo.

OP if you read this, please report back!
