Troll better, honestly. I like my trolls with enough substance to really chew on.

It just kills you that there are Dems out there that don’t 100% agree with you and are willing to violate the ironclad dem rules and vote for someone other than a dem…

I’m thinking about doing this too. It’s not like he’ll be able to go hog wild on anything given the Council. At the same time, I want SOME balance, particularly given everything is moving further and further leftward. Moore will replace Hogan (and I can’t vote for a lunatic like Cox but I’m not happy with the direction in the State or Ccounty). Cannot stand Elrich and he’s gotten elected twice with a minority vote of the County. Every time there is a petition or bill proposed to allow ranked choice voting in the County or State, the powers that be in MoCo and Annapolis kill it — and since this is MD, the powers that be mean the Dem Party. I’m sick of it and feel like they’re leaving moderate Dems no choice whatsoever.

The politicians I hate are all the council members. Are all of them running unopposed in the general?

Nope, not voting for any Republicans. I used to, but after the Capitol riot and Roe v. Wade, not crossing the aisle anymore.

I’m definitely crossing the aisle. A Republican county exec will have 0% impact on Roe v. Wade, so that doesn’t matter. I’ve also done my research and I know Sullivan condemned 1/6 as it was happening. He’ll balance the ridiculously progressive council, and I love the idea of balance.

- voted Dem all but once in my 3 decades as a voter

Republicans. Who never win. But if enough Dems and Independents vote for them, there is at least a shot.

Policy in an echo chamber is almost always bad policy. To wit: An INTERIM Planning Board. Made up out of nowhere.

OP, this turned into a solidarity thread. But I do have a question.

In the very slim chance he wins, he will only have a month to set up a transition. What happens if many of the department directors quit? Who's going to help him transition, since he's not part of the county's ruling party apparatus? What trouble will that cause putting together an Operating Budget by March 15?

These are my operational concerns. I wonder who in the Democratic party will cross the aisle as well, to help him out. I don't think he can do it with 100% outsiders.

Me too! I'm old enough to remember begging Marc Elrich to open the pools and playgrounds. He tried to bully the super to close school THIS JANUARY.

I feel the same. We need some balance. I know the Democrats will win every single race in MoCo, but this is my small protest vote.

Who cares?

The Democrats have gone so far left, that I am definitely voting in favor of some balance.

Democrats may have gone far left but Republicans have basically shown that they will not abide with representative Democracy if it means they will lose.
They will choose dictatorship over losing the culture wars.

I think preserving the Republic is more important than policy differences but alas, l am a minority.
Most voters will sell their rights for cheaper gas and lower taxes.

Does Sullivan still condemn Jan. 6? Lots of Republicans condemned it at the time and quickly reversed course.

Sullivan refused to answer when asked if he supports Cox for governor.
