Looking to transfer

No it's all on their websites.

Most schools only allow transfers after two years not one. UVA allows sophomore fall transfers.

We tend to admit 35-40% of the transfer applicants who apply to start at UVA in the fall.

Admission for the spring semester is more competitive. You may apply for the spring semester if you are interested in the College of Arts & Sciences. Typically, we receive over 300 applications for 35 spots in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Especially easy to understand desire to transfer if student is at a single sex school or the current school does not offer a particular major that is of interest.

How was UVA's yield this year and 1st year class size? That may give you a hint to spring semester transfer success. If not, as above, many head there for year two. Good luck!

My DD left her original school after the '21 fall semester and took a break in '22 spring semester to apply to UVA for '22 fall semester, and was accepted. She also got accepted to UVA for '21 fall semester' but decided to attend somewhere else that turned out badly.

It would be interesting and helpful to know why students are transferring or determined to transfer after just one semester.

I wish that I had done so after one semester due to small, rural, isolated school with a social life overwhelmingly consisting of drinking at Greek houses. Was a horrible, mind-numbing experience.

How do you wind up at a heavily Greek/drinking college, unexpectedly?

A lot of community college kids transfer into Uva. They seem happy.

I am so glad it worked out for your family. I hope it works out for us. Did you use any counselor? Did your DD finish all requirements in one semester to enter sophomore year or did she apply as freshman again sorry I am confused.

Thank you everyone
