I don’t remember the last time it rained Halloween evening, what’s your plan?

I would probably do that if it were raining, because trick-or-treating in the rain sounds awful to me.

No one has ANY idea? LOL. Oh boy, what do you think meteorologists do?

They predict the weather, but their predictions are basically guesses a week out. I know because I asked a forecaster from NOAA this question in court under oath during a trial two years ago.

The point is, it's not a guess, its a prediction based on a long range model(s). *I know* because I am in emergency management and work closely with meteorologists regularly. To say "No one has any idea what the weather will be at this point" when we are 6 days out is incorrect.

I live in a very, very rainy climate. Kids go fast in the rain and use clear ponchos for fabulous costumes, umbrellas otherwise, or nothing if they don’t care. If there’s a downpour involved, ToT will fizzle out early so I start giving bigger handfuls of candy the harder the rain falls. If we cancelled for rain, kids would only get to ToT every 3-4 years!

Wasn't there some bad storm rolling in on Halloween night just a few years ago? Everyone was worried about it ruining trick or treating. I remember going out and getting done early to try to beat it. The sky opened up not long after we finished, and our basement flooded. Good times.

Yes, huge storm 3 (?) years ago.

Umbrellas, ponchos, going until kid gets bored.

It’s a bummer but not life changing.

That's generally correct. We can tell when a low-pressure system is coming and where it's going, but for an event like this, a couple of hours in the timing will make all the difference, and that's not something we can predict a week out!

Yup - everyone just went out really early, and it didn't rain until maybe 7 or 8, it was fine.

I cannot imagine canceling Halloween over rain.

Is this rain from hurricane Rossalyn?

Where are you posting from? I don't understand the fearmongering b/c my weather app has no mention of rain.
