Yes indeed.
When the primary election is in fact your general election, you get representation by the incumbent-machine candidate that only appealed to the most strident party members, with rest of the vote being split amongst multiple other challengers. Combine that with a “vote for _____ party no matter who’s running”, and you get the dysfunctional govts single party rule fosters.
This isn’t complicated.
