Agree with the produce and cheese being better than giant, along with prepared foods (although quite expensive). Annoyed at the relatively limited selection of other items - like very few cleaning products, only 4 flavors of Chobani, etc. I'd hoped to never go to the Giant again but no such luck. Plenty of wine and alcohol though! Can't help on the walking since I drive in, but it really doesn't see like it would take 5 minutes to walk another half block and then around the corner. The building isn't that big. |
OMG this is so wrong! I walk to the Wegmans all the time from Sidwell. If you’re waking north on Wisconsin, just turn left after the lawn and you’ll see signs to enter near the takeaway/coffee section. The entrance is across from the Tatte that recently opened up. |
This is super helpful. Could you give a little more guidance? I'm not familiar with the area. |
| PP. I'd also appreciate hearing more about what's good there. Not familiar with the Wegmans chain either, beyond the fact that many people like it. |

I live on Rodman street, drive quarter of a block past two lights to enter the parking garage for Wegman's. I also couldn't believe they have no entrance on this side.
I walk for living, and will go for a walk after a grocery store, but I don't want to walk with my groceries. |
Not sure what more guidance you need. Have you ever walked on Wisconsin? Are you visiting the area for the first time? I |
| go back through McLean Gardens at the end of 39th street. |
+1 this is the way my phone map app took me |
Isn't that a little out of the way from Wisconsin? Seems like going two blocks west to then go back a block east. |
I guess we will move the entire building and ruin the beautiful front of the building to put an ugly grocery storefront so you don't have to walk a few extra steps. |
Nobody has suggested that. The question is whether there's a pedestrian entrance at or near the parking/delivery entrance on Wisconsin, which is for vehicles only. Hardly an outlandish request by OP. There might be a staircase down to the Wegmans level behind Taco Bamba. It looked like there could be when I was last there. |
There is a pedestrian entrance off Wisconsin - it's just on the north side of the lawn rather than the south side of the lawn. I really don't see why this is such a big deal. It's probably safer to not have a pedestrian path at the main parking/delivery entrance. The entrance at the north side of the lawn has very little car traffic, there's a wide sidewalk with treeboxes, and also bike racks. Really, people is it such a big deal to have to walk the length of the lawn to get to the Wegmans via pedestrian path? I swear, if Wegmans had decided to put the pedestrian entryway near the main parking/delivery entrance, DCUM would be complaining about that! |
This isn't true. |
