Telling tens of millions of followers that he will go “Death con 3 on the Jews” is opposite of harmless.

In more civilized countries, speech like that is rightfully illegal.

The nations that arent fascist have greater restrictions on speech. Is that how it works?

Tell us your address so we can let Kanye know where to send his mob. Should it be legal for him to wish “Death Con 3” on your kids? Maybe he can wish Death Con 3 on your kids’ school and encourage people to bear arms there.

Freedom of speech, right?

If you're opposed to freedom of speech, it means that you favor a more authoritarian approach to governance.

Even in our society, however, it is illegal to make threats of violence, as you might be doing against schoolchildren.

If someone wants to express their blatant anti-semitism, that is their business. But the First Amendment doesn't mean someone isn't accountable for their words. And further, if a private platform wants to facilitate those words, they can be held accountable as well. Please understand what the First Amendment actually says.

Toss Herschel on that pile, too. Republicans sure do love some mental illness, don't they? As long as they have a pulse and an R next to their name, anything is fair game!

Kanye is an attention ho
Probably not particularly stable either
If he weren't rich, would anyone other than his family and ex wife care?

If he were not rich from an upper-middle class family, he’d be homeless, in prison, or dead. Take your pick.

Should a threat of violence against Jews be illegal in the US? Yes or no.

I think laws should be changed to make it illegal.

Let us know your answer in definitive terms.

Credible, unambiguous threats of violence should. Using colorful or offensive language should not.

"Death con 3" is presumably a reference to "def con," which is an antiquated military term about being ready to deploy. It isnt a threat of violence like, for example, threatening to send weapons into a school.

What Ye said is offensive. Its not illegally offensive, nor should it be. We dont criminalize words in the US unless they are a prelude to crime. Thats how it should be.

I never discussed 1A. But thanks, constitutional scholar.

Kanye is obviously hitting a new low. But his behavior shouldnt be illegal-- I was addressing this to a pp who wrote that it should be.

So you’re cool with speech that threatens Jewish people based on their ethnicity-religion.

Like I said, more civilized societies made hate speech illegal based on a history of atrocities. It’s sad to see so many Americans apply some sort of quixotic notion of “free speech” that only serves to protect and inspire violent rhetoric (see, Tree of Life murders).

Kanye will inspire the next synagogue shooter. I guarantee it.

This is so beyond anything else he’s ever said. It’s not an antic. Its not anti Israel. It’s fueling a fire that led to the holocaust ffs. PP is right that he could inspire the next synagogue shooting. I assume all his collaborators will stop working with him?

Is “death con 3” a legal concept?

He means DEFCON, right?

He was on Tucker the other night. The folks on Fox can hardly control their glee.

He’s been deplatformed so effectively he’s been muzzled.

Big tech working hand in glove with government to shut down unapproved views.

I am far more afraid of censorship than Kanye, Ye, or whatever he goes by these days.

Oh yes an international superstar has no way to get his views across. Please.
