The city has a lot of potential but the 2020s will be hard on philly

I wouldn’t go unless you were an introvert that just worked at sig as a trader and went home and stayed in your mainline town

The city itself is rough rough rough

There are plenty of areas in the city that are fine.

Aren’t there lots of young people in the city because of universities? You can also live in South Jersey and commute

And 20 and 30 somethings.

The 20 and 30 somethings in philly are different than the ones in dc

Please elaborate.

If this video doesn’t get you hyped or touch you in any way then philly isn’t for you

We visited Philly as tourists from DC (had never been there before) and stayed downtown. I had a great time, thought the central area (Center City, is that it?) was fun. It felt alive at night, lots of shops open, had dinner and ice cream, everyone was out walking around the area. There is Constitution Hall, the Liberty Bell, etc. That part of town is wonderful. I don't know about the other parts. All cities have their dangerous areas. Our hotel downtown had a rooftop pool, so cool. Our kids loved it!!

Philadelphia is a great city. We have real neighborhoods with real people. South Philly has a huge immigrant population with so many choices for food. We also have a bunch of nice middle/working class neighborhoods with lots to do.

I think it is sad that when people visit they just go to Center City. The city is so much more than that.

Random shootings everywhere in the city are also way more common

In the past two year Philly has gone downhill and become more dangerous. Figure that out as you will.

It’s a great city but a real city. It’s not transient which is nice - generations of families. Harder to crack into because it’s not transient. Beaches that are due East are lovely. Fly Eagles Fly.

I wouldn't say I like it. We are here because dh is in the pharma sector. People are rough and rude.

I love Philly but PhilaSD has gotten rough again. I would love to the mainline suburbs in a heartbeat if our careers would permit.

Mainline suburbs are really nice. It’s safe. It has outstanding schools and it’s a great place to raise a family. I wonder what DC suburbs are similar to mainline.

I completely agree. People are so confrontational and angry, it's very draining (and sometimes scary) to be around. I hope your husband is able to get a job transfer to a better location someday.

I can’t comment on the city proper, but we moved from DC to the Main Line last year and I’ve found people are much friendlier and nicer here than the DC area.
