The kids were 14! Fourteen!! That is crazy. Incredibly brazen.

I guess school is optional for 14 year olds, since they were just hanging out at Town Center.

holy crap, that is brazen. 11:50am on Maryland Ave is broad daylight in the heart of RTC. It also occurred right around open lunch time, and so many kids go to RTC for lunch. The witness followed them to near Panera Bread. That witness was very brave to do that.

My kids sometimes go out for open lunch to RTC. And DC drives to school and parks in the neighborhood.

Very scary.

Same here. My kids go to lunch at RTC also.

Thanks for posting the link to the story, PP.

Wait, the kids were released into the custody of their parents. Is that normally how things go? They knocked the victim into a concrete pole and tried to steal her car. What the actual F?

This story is even worse than I would have thought.

The kids were/are DC residents. So not MCPS kids.

Anonymous wrote:"Good afternoon RM Families,

I am writing to inform you that we are currently in a Public Safety Shelter in Place. This is because of a community incident. There is no immediate danger in our building or on our campus, and during this time, classroom instruction will continue. We are taking this precaution at the advice of the Rockville City Police. Corporal Tibbs, our Community Engagement Officer, is also posted on our campus. We will update you once more information is available.

Sincerely,

anyone know what that incident is? I have two kids at RMHS.

According to my Ring camera neighborhood alert, there was a potential armed carjacking in the garage by the the movie theater.

So just normal day to day events.

Seriously. Life is getting crazier by the second.

Ugh, and armed carjacking? That sucks.

8th grade much?

How would you like to describe it? Would it be better to say that is was a ‘most unfortunate incident’? I mean, say what you want, but the whole thing does kinda suck.

A bunch of fourteen year old criminals from DC tried to carjack a lady at Rockville Town Center in the middle of the day, during broad daylight. Walking distance from the high school, and at a time when some kids might even be walking to RTC.

Thanks to the MC Police Department for catching the criminals.

And the City of Rockville Police too.

Wonder if these were the same kids that shot at the GDS students last week. If I recall correctly, those shooters were also wearing ski masks.

It's the norm now. Anything they can do to avoid detention. I would hope they were on some sort of monitored home detention, but the article doesn't say.
