"Good afternoon RM Families,
I am writing to inform you that we are currently in a Public Safety Shelter in Place. This is because of a community incident. There is no immediate danger in our building or on our campus, and during this time, classroom instruction will continue. We are taking this precaution at the advice of the Rockville City Police. Corporal Tibbs, our Community Engagement Officer, is also posted on our campus. We will update you once more information is available. Sincerely, Alicia Deeny Principal" -------------- anyone know what that incident is? I have two kids at RMHS. |
According to my Ring camera neighborhood alert, there was a potential armed carjacking in the garage by the the movie theater. |
|
^that could be it. Thanks.
Kind of scary. Lots of kids drive to school and park on the streets around the neighborhood. Even more now that there are so many portables on the lots. |
So just normal day to day events. |
Seriously. Life is getting crazier by the second. |
Ugh, and armed carjacking? That sucks. |
|
Hi OP, your kids must be "young" at RM. We had multiple of these alerts in 2019 for sure.
Armed robbery at CVS was an event that came to mind from a few years ago. Basically, don't freak out on any of these messages. |
um.. one is a senior, the other a freshman. Yes, we've had a few shelter in places in the 3 yrs (minus the pandemic year). I was just curious what the "community incident" was. There are armed carjackings in Bethesda, too. So, it happens in very wealthy places, too. |
|
someone barricaded themselves in a house in the Castle ridge (I think) neighborhood.
That's why all the buses were screwed up this morning getting to the area MS and HS. |
That was over near Burtonsville. |
Yes. Three 14-year-olds from DC. https://bethesdamagazine.com/2022/10/04/three-d-c-teens-charged-with-attempted-armed-carjacking-in-rockville/ |
8th grade much? |

holy crap, that is brazen. 11:50am on Maryland Ave is broad daylight in the heart of RTC. It also occurred right around open lunch time, and so many kids go to RTC for lunch. The witness followed them to near Panera Bread. That witness was very brave to do that. My kids sometimes go out for open lunch to RTC. And DC drives to school and parks in the neighborhood. Very scary. |
dp.. who the F* cares. This is a forum, not the Harvard Law review. Get a life. Dipwad. |
