Ledo and best do not belong in the same sentence. Or the same paragraph. Maybe even the same zip code. |
The old hard roll (that they no longer have) at the Italian Store was really good, as was the imported bread from Philly at the original Taylor Gourmet. Sadly, both long-lost memories. |
| You are killing me. I'm currently supposed to be eating a clear diet, and now all I can think about is an Italian cold cut sub (or hoagie). |
I love it when the southerners join in. Stick to what you know, like shrimp and grits. |
And biscuits. But butt out of the discussion on grinders. (not hoagies or subs) |
Oh YES that Taylor Gourmet bread was good and the closest to the Bronx Italian bread I love. Now that I think of it, Grazie Grazie is owned by the Taylor people....and I think that they might use the same bread: https://graziegrazie.com/ |
Have you tried Gemelli's? They def have the hard Italian roll. |
I havent! Based on this thread, it looks like all the decent italian delis are in Maryland. I need to leave NOVA to check this out (the Italian Store is just ok....and they don't know how to cut prosciutto) |
| I love Italian Store, but the last Philly I had tasted like bologna. I assumed they changed one of the meats. |
| Capriottis in Roslyn |
It's neither -- it is a grinder -- pronounced Grinedah |
blasphemy - go back to new england |
| It gets overlooked as it’s literally next to a Wawa, but the Italian Gourmet has been around for years in Vienna, and is still quite reliable, in spite of all the competition |
| I have literally never heard anyone refer to it as an “Italian Cold Cut” before. DMV is so weird. |

A Litteri in the "old" union market. Italian Store is fine too, but haven't had one in 2-3 years.
