Why are 3 row cars hyped

Highlander third row is painful! Ascent is fine and pilot is fine

It’s not a hybrid like you wanted, but we love the Ascent. We use the third row frequently and everyone from the preschooler to the grandparents fits there comfortably!

Ascent and Atlas have the best third rows if you don’t want a minivan or a big SUV like Tahoe/Expedition.

Usable for kids, but not adults unless it's a short trip.

The new stretched Grand Highlander will address its 3rd row issue.

It's the mix of necessity (plenty of people need more than 5 seats) and a weird kind of extended adolescence hate-on for minivans (which have more usable 3rd rows).

We have 2 teens and a tween. We do a few road trips a year.
The Hyundai Palisade works for us.

I have Audi Q7 and the third row is ok.

That being said I would love a large suv like a Yukon or expedition but we live in dc and garages and parking are tough enough with a q7.

If I lived in suburbs like fairfax or something I would have a large suv.

Have a Mazda CX-9. Was thinking of trading it in because I hardly use the 3rd row. How wrong was I!! We just got a puppy and we use it often now. We also started going out more post-pandemic, so we use it for going on camping next fishing trips, to using it when family come over or when our kids friends want to go to the park. Not to mention, using the cargo space and folding down the seats when we have huge cargo. Now I can’t see myself without a 3 row SUV.

I’ve had two minivans and would really like another one. However, not a single minivan on the market currently is narrow enough to fit through my garage door. My current and previous Odyssey’s both fit, although the first one fit easier than the second. Everything just gets bigger and wider, which is just plain silly when you are already talking about a vehicle the size of a minivan.

So, I will be stuck with one of the 3 row SUV’s mentioned here (or similar) not because I’m “too cool” for a minivan but because the car makers are stupid.

The top Odyssey level has mirrors that fold in so you can park easier. But yeah, I agree. I've looked into having my 2, 1 car garage doors demolished and replaced with one single 2 car garage door.

I didn't know that the Odyssey wouldn't fit in my garage and didn't get the top model (because I didn't need GPS or the TVs), and I just about cried when I got it home and it wouldn't fit. I only had about an inch clearance on both sides, which isn't enough IMO.

We took a Sienna on a road trip and I loved it!

There's also the Pacifica (which I've had for nearly 5 years and has been great).

We have a Pacifica, too, and it's been great. Don't know about now, but a few years ago, you could have AWD or Hybrid, not both. We picked AWD because we get snow. Now wish we'd tried to get a hybrid as the AWD is not amazing.

For function, the Pacifica is solid. We made it 65 hours to the west coast and back. And you can move so much more in it than any of the SUVs we were considering.
