My 14 year old tenth grader has been getting college stuff since she was a 13 year old 9th grader. And she has visited a few schools. I actually think there is value in that. It has reminded her that if she wants her first choice of schools she can’t slack. In 9th and 10th grade kids still have the time to get their GPA up if they need to. |
But how do they get their details? That is what I'd like to find out. Do you have an idea? |
I think from things they look at online. Like she looked up a school and somehow got on the mailing list. |

I don’t know what what district you are in but, if FCPS, the 10th graders will take the PSAT soon and had to sign up for a college board account. Thankfully my 14yo 10th grader asked me if she should uncheck the marketing box. She has tw older siblings and she saw how they were inundated with college marketing.

We are in MCPS and she'll take it Oct 12. This might be the place it happened. Your 14 yr old sounds like a smart kid. |
| Did she take AP last year in9th grade? |
Why? I barely noticed. We mostly partied on campus, so getting alcohol if you wanted it was very easy. |
| University of Chicago ? |
yes she did and she got a good grade thank you |
DP. I think PP was asking because there might be a College Board marketing option there too that may have flown under her radar. |
+ 1 that’s when my DD (also 14 at the time) started getting mailing also, she has college board account for AP |
Yes, I fully understood the implications of her statement. That's why I said "thank you" |
