I have no idea how they got her details. She has not done the PSAT yet.
How would they find her? |
| The same way Pottery Barn finds you. They buy names from someone who is selling their mailing lists. |
| She signed up for something. |
| Your 10th grader is only 14? |
| Usually it's from the College Board account. |
| Did she sign up for PSAT or an AP exam? |
When I started 10th grade, I was 14. I turned 15 in November. Where I grew up the cutoff was the end of the calendar year. I was not the youngest one in my grade. |
FCPS cutoff is Sept 30th. Anyone who started kindergarten on time and was born between Sept 16 and Sept 30 is 14. |
DP, but at this point in 10th grade my older kid was still 3 weeks away from turning 15. |
My 5th grader is only 9. She will be 14 at the start of 10th grade. Yes, it happens. |
| Yes, check the College Board account, she may have a box checked or unchecked that allows colleges to send to her somewhere. You don't need that. It will just bombard her w/ crap. |
| My kid started getting emails from athletic recruiting services in 7th grade. She can't even talk to coaches until September 1st of her junior year. But, the services are selling something and so are the colleges and it is never too early, in their view, to start marketing. |
| I skipped K, so I was 14 most of my sophomore year. I was a young 17 my entire freshman year of college and turned 21 about a week before I walked in my college graduation ceremony. |
That sucks |
Thank you! The only helpful reply. Though I do appreciate those who understand it's possible to be 14 and in 10th grade. That is why it seemed so insane to me. She is 14. She has JUST started 10th grade. The US university system is a business like no other. |
