I’m 5’7 and usually weigh 120. I’m at 128 now and it’s absolutely visible. My pants are really tight at the waist and along the outsides of my thighs and butt. |
I am 5'6" and pear shaped. I notice any shift of 5 pounds, either up or down in my pants. My lower belly and hips are always the first to move. |
I meant do you notice 5 pounds on others not yourself. I should have been clearer. |
I don't think people notice 5-10 pounds either way. I recently lost 16 pounds (153 to 137 on a 5'5 frame) and no one really noticed the first 10. My husband and Mom both said I looked good and were supportive, but I could tell they couldn't see any difference. Once I hit 15 I started getting comments that I looked thinner. |
I am five feet tall and my weight ranges from about 122-127. Every time I am at the lower end, people - even people I don't really know - comment that I look like I've lost weight.
The obvious corollary is that when I am at the higher end, it's obvious that I've gained weight. So, yeah, height and body type matters! |
^ When I say people I don't know, I mean like a neighbor whose name I don't know commented on it when I was out walking my dog past her house. It was strange! I'm at the mid-range of it now, after having gotten to (and stayed at) the very highest end of that range over the summer. Weird to be a human living in a bag of flesh, I'm telling you. |
How tall are you? I am 5 ft and 5 lbs is very noticeable on me and in my clothes. |
No one will notice this but you, I promise. 10 lbs on you would likely would be noticeable to the very observant. |
But OTHERS probably don’t notice |
Google says researchers found on average people only notice a gain of 8-9 lbs in others. This strikes me as accurate with my experience. |
I'm 5'2" and I notice five pounds and feel like others do as well. |
I'm 5'4" and I just fluctuated 8 lbs in 2 days. |
For it's about 8lbs before people make comments (they make the comments if I've gone down, I'm assuming that means it is also visible when I go up but people are being polite)
I'm not small though, 5'8" and 150lbs. I can fluctuate 3-4lbs easily from day to day depending on what I eat and time of the month |
My DH thought I lost 5 or 10 pounds when I went from a size 12 to a 2/4 (I lost 45), so I guess I look fairly large at any weight. I think I would notice a gain or loss of 5 in terms of how my clothes fit. |
Or you look fairly thin at any weight! |
