Many kids in classroom do not bring snack

Anonymous
1. They forget
2. They can't afford it
3. They don't think their kid needs a snack
4. They know that someone else will provide it if they don't

Also, OP, I say this kindly, but you post here A LOT, like to the point where I recognize your writing. You need to get off this board and stop asking these questions.

We used to do this as well. Goldfish or cheerios.

NP. This is a message board that exists due to people asking questions. Who are you to tell someone to stop posting?

Why? OP can post as much as she wants.
You don’t sound kind.

Lunch, charged ipad, homework, planner, gym shoes, water bottle, snack. I can imagine it's easy to forget one of the above.

My kids eat the school lunch and refuse to bring a snack. It's really frustrating. Sometimes I send in a snack but it always comes back uneaten. Should I continue to send? I feel it's wasteful to send food that doesn't get eaten.

My kid does the same. I send something sturdy and shelf stable, like a granola bar, that can stay in the backpack indefinitely. Occasionally she doesn’t like anything for lunch and the snack is there to tide her over.

I don’t really understand how snack works at our DCPS either, TBH. I know school provides a (very small) afternoon snack and some kids pack their own. This year the teacher asked for parent donations for classroom snacks as well. To supplement the school snack? Not sure.

Are you sure there is a snack time in their classroom this year?

She's in 2nd grade and the teacher sends reminders about a healthy snack - maybe I will put a granola bar in there just so the teacher doesn't think it's me. For what it's worth, I'm also the mom who sends her kid to school in shorts when it's practically snowing because it is not worth the battle. She knows she is going to be outside and probably cold but she says she doesn't feel the cold and I have bigger swords to die on.

My kindergartener (now 2nd grader) used to tell me “eh, I don’t want a snacks when we were packing up in the morning.

I don’t know if he wanted no snack, or he liked what the teacher brought! Lol.

We had good snacks! It may behove the teacher to bring boring ‘extra snacks.’

Granola bars, crackers, graham crackers.

Is it perishable? Send in the same granola bar or whatever every day.

And you wonder why there is an obesity crisis in this country….

Ask the teacher if your kid is one that comes without snack, I had the same situation and it turns out my child was eating their snack at lunch and the teacher thought I was one of the parents not sending snack. I started giving boxes of snack to the teacher to keep it out of my son’s backpack and to share with other kids without snacks.
