My kids eat the school lunch and refuse to bring a snack. It's really frustrating. Sometimes I send in a snack but it always comes back uneaten. Should I continue to send? I feel it's wasteful to send food that doesn't get eaten.
My kid does the same. I send something sturdy and shelf stable, like a granola bar, that can stay in the backpack indefinitely. Occasionally she doesn’t like anything for lunch and the snack is there to tide her over. I don’t really understand how snack works at our DCPS either, TBH. I know school provides a (very small) afternoon snack and some kids pack their own. This year the teacher asked for parent donations for classroom snacks as well. To supplement the school snack? Not sure.
