I don't know what the OP's situation is, but I needed a second beta (the one to confirm doubling) on a Saturday -- so it was somewhat important to have it done that day. And I was taking progesterone shots (not suppositories) so they wanted to measure the blood levels of progesterone so they could adjust the dose if necessary. Obviously if the beta hadn't doubled, it's not like the clinic could have magically prevented a chemical pregnancy - but they did want to know the results that same day to keep tabs on what was going on and to make recommendations for when I should come in for an u/s.
