Need a beta on a Saturday

Anonymous
I'm going to need a beta on a Saturday and don't know of a lab that is open Saturdays. I'd appreciate any recommendations you can offer. I live close to DC in Maryland. Thanks.

Shady Grove will do it for you if you are an outside patient for about $250. Their Annadale and Rockville officies are open on Saturday.

$250?? i called shady grove today and was told it would be $95 for a beta.

Maybe it was $250 for some of the other bloodwork I had done and not the beta. But if they are taking both HCG and progesterone (which many clinics request) then you are charged for each one which (I think) brings it up to around $200. But if you called and SG said $95 for the beta and your script only requests Beta HCG, you'll save some money by not needing progesterone.

If you are an SG patient and your beta day falls on Saturday, they let you do it on Friday. If it falls on Sunday, you have to wait until Monday.

Any chance you can just get it done on Friday at whatever lab you normally go to?

SG does not routinely do betas on the weekend for their own patients, but don't know if they are willing to do it for non-patients. Definitely call and check.

Dominion Fertility monitors patients on the weekend, why don't you call them?

A friend of mine was visiting me in VA and she got a beta done at dominion fertility for about $85, she just needed an order or prescription from her regular doctor.

Thanks, all. Can a regular lab do a beta? Is it as simple as finding a lab that's open on Saturdays? If not, I can call Dominion or SG.

labcorp has saturday hours, you can make an appt online. but, they don't give you the results, they fax them to your doctor

SG also won't officially call you with results if you are not their patient (I doubt any doctor's office would give you results if they aren't treating you). However, we did once get SG to give us beta results over the phone on a saturday by calling their nurse's line (we're former patients so we had the number) when something got messed up and our new clinic didn;t receive the fax. Also, if your insurance will cover your beta, it might be cheaper to not go to SG. They will make you pay out of pocket if you are an outside patient even if your insurance covers it and you are in-network.

Not all labs or lab locations can do a "stat" beta, particularly on a Saturday, so make sure you call and verify that.

Columbia Fertility does betas on weekends at their DC office. I don' t know if they will do it for non-patients, but it's worth a call.

i think you have to have a doctor's order or script for drawing blood at labcorp or quest. i would assume you'd need one at SG or DF as well, right?

I'm not sure I understand why you need to have one on Saturday and get the results Saturday as well.

You sould just go to your Labcorp or whatever and they'll have them sent to your doctor like their usual process. Then go to the store and get a pregnancy test and test at home. THen on Tuesday you can get a repeat beta and see how things are rising. A single beta on a Saturday isn't going to give you any more peace of mind then a home test. The rise in numbers is what is important.

Sound to me like you're making a stressful situation for no good reason. Enjoy your holiday weekend.
