When to begin potty training?

Same here.

I don't know anyone who actually waited (rather than starting and stopping earlier and then going back to it at 3) who wasn't done in a few days.

I've always started between 22-24 months and it's by far been the easiest parenting thing to accomplish.

18mo we started showing them how to use it when they showed a curiosity and interest in figuring it out. Closer to 2 we began actually training. All 3 boys were daytime trained by 2/2.5 but not night trained until 4

As soon as they turned 3, it took 2 days. Done. Daytime done. Diaper at night for a couple months.

Never used pull-ups

Ha. I started at 22 months and it was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life.

DD at 19 months. DS at 18 months. I realize this is really early for current American standards, but pretty common around the world (and in the U.S. before such convenient disposable diapers). We know this from experience... DH never even wore diapers; he was trained very young just to know where to "go!"
3rd baby is 1 year old and I look forward to potty training in 6 months!
Not trying to promote anything here but if anyone is curious I did follow the plan in Andrea Olson's Tiny Potty Training Book for 18 Months+.
Non-coercive, non-rewarding, learning by doing. I did have to take at least one day off work in order to do it over a long weekend each time, but for us, totally worth it.

They do wear Pull-Ups at night time though (they're 4 and 2 now), my excuse being that I need the sleep and each time I've tried to have DC go without them she pees the bed... I guess that time will come eventually! Maybe it's better just to do the potty training for night-time too at the same time...

18mo-2 is a good time to start with most kids. Don’t worry too much about nighttime training. If you’ve got a heavy sleeper they can’t train their way out of that but get the hang of it as their bladders grow
