Would someone actually pay $1.69 for this house?

Close in but a hike to metro with NO parking. 3 bedrooms and 1 full bath for the 2 on UL. Same price and coming soon with 4 full-2 bath UL1 and 2 full+bath UL2. Some buyers are blinded by white kitchens and go with impractical floorplans. https://www.redfin.com/MD/Bethesda/5000-Scarsdale-Rd-20816/home/10666359

I called it a hike since it is .8 miles and we have family in the area. Some people backtracked to park at another station and many drive if working in DC. We used to live in NYC and other major cities. Walking .8 miles past shops, apartment buildings, etc is not the same as this. ARL - Courthouse etc was similar in lifestyle to walk to work/local train or subway, stores, etc. Somewhat similar is the Conn Ave strip where you get the metro at Cleveland Park, Van Ness, Zoo.

It's a weird story all around on that house. The internationally-based father bought it at a rare auction for his grown daughter (who I believe also lived abroad) and no one actually ever lived there. The auction price probably didn't really reflect the market price at the time (would have fetched higher on the open market, I suspect, living very close by). I really don't remember why it went to auction in the first place. It's sitting which means it's overpriced for a neighborhood where most homes sell in one weekend. It is an easy walk to the FH Metro.

$1.69 won't get you a cup of coffee, so seems like a bargain.

This. For that price the marketing and presentation should be 1ks better.

I used to walk by this house. I'm surprised - I thought it was going to be a teardown!

It's a continued source of amazement to me that some people in this neighborhood, when selecting a realtor, use someone other than Dana Rice. (And no, I don't work with her.) Seeing the prices she has gotten on some properties, it's a no brainer.

I would be very surprised. Other similar houses that are similar quality and size in the neighborhood have not gone for that much.

I'm confused by the lack of exterior photos - the front of the house for example. What are they hiding? Even the street view doesn't give you a good view.

Scary looking super cheap flip. Kitchen looks worse than what you’d find in a 1960’s studio apt.

They’re hiding that it was made by the guy who built Trump’s house.

I am not Dana and don't work for her but completely agree. But if you want to go with someone else and leave $$$ on the table by all means go ahead!
