Mi Vida or Guapos

Anonymous
We’ve been to Mi Vida a few times. First of all, it’s not Tex-Mex, so if that’s specifically what you want, it’s not it. Also, maybe it was an off night, but when we went earlier this summer it wasn’t nearly as good as we remembered- been once in 2021 and also once or twice prior to the pandemic. It wasn’t bad, but not great either.

Neither is good. Try Taqueria Picoso, Habañero or Muchas Gracias

Guapo's in Tenleytown made us totally sick. Uncle Julio's on Bethesda Ave is fun and they have a lot of outdoor seating. Food is pretty good.

I'm from Texas, and Guapos is pretty standard tex-me, frankly. Some of the others mentioned here are more "modern" takes on Mexican food. Personally I prefer El Tio if you are in Northern Virginia and of course Chuy's if you want to go further out.

PP here, I'm talking about the Guapos in Shirlington. Haven't been to the one in DC.

Yea, and it’s not good (in my opinion).

Guapos is near us in Shirlington and they are ok. Not amazing but ok.

Also random observation - all the servers are male.

Of those 2, I’d pick Mi Vida just for location and atmosphere. If you are visiting, the Wharf is nice to walk around.
I’ve only been to the Guapos in Shirlington and I thought it was good. I didn’t know there was one in the city.
