+1. Haven't been but it has to be better than Guapo's so I'd try there.

Has anyone tried La Sandia in Tysons

Guapo’s is pretty bad

Mi Vida has much better food than Guapo’s and is in a more fun area. That said, I’d probably choose Oyamel.

Guapo’s is inedible to anyone who grew up on Tex max (like myself). Another vote for Oyemel.

These restaurants aren’t even in the same price range at all. We love Mi Vida and the food is excellent , but it is pretty expensive.

So what tex Mex do you recommend? Guapos is owned by a Mexican family btw.

Cactus Cantina or Uncle Julio’s over Guapo’s if Tex-Mex is what you’re looking for (in DC?)

El Centro (in Georgetown), Gringos & Mariachis and Casa Oaxaca (both, like uncle Julio’s, in Bethesda) are some other options. Seriously, you almost can’t do worse than Guapo’s.

I live in Georgetown. Sadly, El Centro has gone down hill. The Georgetown Guapos is actually better than it.

I will stand up for Guapos (in Bethesda at least) as pretty good— not great but not disgusting. I like it better than Uncle Julios, altho I haven’t been much since Casa Oaxaca opened.

That is a shame re El Centro. My last meal there was pre-COVID.

Agree-- I hope it makes a comeback.
