Is thin in?

Anonymous
I've had 3 employees fly from Maryland to Miami over the last 12 months for BBL's at $6000 per surgery.

I think BBL's are still very, very popular in certain circles.

This. These body trends at this point only apply to people willing to go under the knife and get often dangerous procedures like BBL. Even extreme dieting/exercise can’t achieve this.

But it’s also possible to just ignore it altogether. I mean, look at Hollywood— actresses don’t look like this and are not having this work done, for the most part. They might be optimizing their diets and working with trainers and using any manner of shape wear, and they certainly have work done on their faces, but not even they will try and alter their bodies like this.

It’s just influencers and reality stars, half of whom are borderline (or actual) porn models/producers (via Only Fans accounts or similar). I don’t aspire to that.

What type of business are you in? I don’t know a single person IRL that’s done this!

It hasn’t trickled down to the plebes yet. See Kim K’s recent weight loss, extreme abdominal lipo, and completely different shape.

I don't aspire to the Kardashian aesthetic and neither should anyone else. They have plastic surgeons on retainer. And if you have to go to these extreme lengths to look like this instead of through diet and exercise, it won't last long.

Have you never been to an art gallery? seen paintings from the 18th century, tiny waisted women in corsets, rolls of fat when naked? Or the large breasted carved ancient fertility symbols? Or the flat chested flappers of the 1930s?

Body trends have existed for as long as bodies have been around.

Thin is always in, but in the past decade curves, thickness, and lifting heavy to build lots of muscle has also been in fashion and the heroin chic look less so.

NP, “they” don’t care if you’re skinny, muscled, bootylicious. AS LONG as you
-let people objectify you
-buy into whatever they’re selling

Hence. Stupid Victoria’s Secret ad recently. Too little too late.

Great point. Although I would say a lot of actresses are clearly underweight. Not all, of course. But that super skinny actress look also really has t changed much over the years. Maybe I am imagining it but pop stars and musicians seem to have a wider variety of body presentations than in the past. Not just super skinny and super big but also average.
