SAT test today at Springbrook

Anonymous
Older dd took the SAT a few years ago at Gaithersburg High and exactly the same thing happened-- she was one of those running from the main street. I was at Springbrook this morning. Since kid didn't have phone for the test, I waited around in the parking lot so she could come back if there was some problem. I saw lots of kids running and no one returning to parents' car. Seems to me like they took anyone who was there within a reasonable span of time after the "doors close" time.

How early would you recommend we arrive?

Wow, that's nuts. My kid took it at Edison today and while it was busy, he had no problem. We got there around 735 and dropped off in a line.

He knew he needed to be there at 745 and that he'd be done between 12:05 and 12:30. He came out around 12:35. Many kids finished earlier and there seemed to be more people there. Evidently one proctor did not show up, so they split those kids up into other rooms.

When DS said start time was not on the ticket I was sure he was wrong. But nope, no time printed on his admission ticket. What time are these supposed to start? DS also said he had to do a extra section of Q’s for future tests — does everyone do this?

I think that happened to mine once. Experimental section. Sure, make us pay for the kid to do research for you. So annoying!

Is this typical at most locations?

What time does it end?

I dropped my kid off on 495.

About what time to get there, 7:30am has worked for my 3 kids over the last 6 years. But we've never gone to Springbrook.

College Board sends a reminder email 2 days before the test that gives all the details.

That sounds dangerous.

I think the PP is joking. Springbrook is not near 495.

A high score can help with admission and merit aid.

It’s not really optional if you want to get in to a selective school.

Test optional only really applies if you are an underrepresented minority or first generation college student. If you are white or Asian and your parents went to college, you need to submit scores.

Bumping this thread…

My kid is taking the ACT at Springbrook tomorrow. Any idea when is a good time to arrive? Is traffic backed up onto New Hampshire? Hopefully they’ve planned better this year!

The issue presented by OP was likely due to it being the August SAT, a very popular test date. December ACT, not so much.
