Do school employees need to report their DUI arrest to MCPS?

Are these supposed to be reported to MCPS? If so, what’s the penalty for not reporting?

Not sure how it works here, but when one of my coworkers got a third DUI in FCPS (5+years ago) I believe the police contacted the principal within a few days.

But yes this is the same Virginia whose other county police simply “sent an email that didn’t go through” to the superintendent about an FCPS counselor who was picked up TWICE for solicitation of a minor..

I am of the opinion any arrest should require Maryland police departments to contact MCPS. Repeat drunk driver offenders are a threat to the safety of others. People who drive after their license is revoked shows a complete disregard for the law.

Not seeing DUI there.

Drunks and junkies are welcomed.

You jump from "any arrest" to repeat arrests to the specific offense of driving with a suspended license.

Question, assuming MCPS is notified, what do you think should happen then? Person should be fired? And how will that help the problem that you appear to be trying to address, which is "threat to the safety of others"?

DUIs do not need to be reported, which I think is a mistake. MCPS should be aware in order to ascertain that the employee isn't in a position that may require them to transport a child. Also, multiple DUIs is indicative of a substance use disorder and poor impulse control or decision-making, and that is something I'd be concerned about in a school employee.

There was an administrator who got multiple DUIs and was even sent to weekend jail for violating probation and parents at a school she was reassigned to kicked up a fuss and that admin is now working at Carver and not directly with children.
