Dumb question but pls indulge me

I’d be concerned about thawed frozen mushrooms adding a lot of liquid that dilutes the cheese powder and makes the meal runnier and more bland. I’d probably leave out the mushrooms and add a can of crushed tomatoes if I had any.

My grandmother always made chili out of ground venison because it covers the gaminess.

I would include the mushrooms but fry them with the meat. It will add flavour to the venison and boil off the water.

Fry the venison separately, pour out any oil. Use salt and pepper and other spices, anything you like, garlic powder, onion powder, etc. If you have an onion, dice and include that as well.
Combine the cooked macaroni, the cooked venison, the mushrooms and the cheese packet (would also consider grating and adding some of the cheddar) and put in oven at 350 until warmed/cheese melts, 15-20 min. Not sure how it will taste, but that's how I would do it.

Thank you! Someone else recommended the same, I’ll try it this way. I’m not sure why this post is getting so many disgusted comments. Is it because it’s venison instead of ground beef? My understanding was that macaroni and ground beef is a common American combination.

It is a common American combination, you're basically making Hamburger Helper and what you're making sounds delicious.

The people saying it is "disgusting" are trying to portray themselves as "too sophisticated to ever eat such a plebian meal." It's sort of like virtue signaling but way worse because at least virtue signaling spreads a good message. This just spreads the message that they're toxic, hateful losers.

the saddest part is that these people are probably drooling inside at the thought of your delicious meal, but they're too obsessed with "class" to actually eat what they want. They're making themselves miserable to impress anonymous stranger on the internet. I honestly can't think of much that would be more pathetic.

I hope you enjoy your meal enough for all of them!

You spend way too much time analyzing negative posts and assigning motives.

I would saute a chopped or minced onion in a frying pan, add the venison and sliced mushrooms cook until browned (on medium). When the meat is almost done, add some minced garlic. Prepare the mac separately according to the directions. When both are done, combine. Personally, I love this combo.

I agree that crushed tomatoes could be good, you could also add scallions or parsley if you have it.

At this point OP the Annie’s mix is irrelevant. Just cook elbow pasta and add real cheese.
*still sounds gross and no I am not bougie

Agree with the PPs that have helpful suggestions and think this will tasty especially compared to other soft food options! Make sure you add slices to the meat for flavor and drain off any fat before mixing with the noodles (I assume venison will be less fatty than hamburger though).

Cook the deer meat the same way you would cook ground beef. Drain the grease, there won't be much. Make the Mac&cheese separately and add the mushrooms to the water while it's heating up. Drain the water and melt the cheese in it while it's still hot. Pour it into the pot with the ground beef, and stir. Back in the Appalachian Mountains, we just throw things together and make whatever, and it always tastes good.
