Does anyone think the IRS hiring signifies student loan forgiveness?

OP why are you so thirsty for loan forgiveness? Just pay your debt obligation like other fiscally responsible adults. Don’t always look for handouts.

Loan forgiveness is not taxable

Why are all these 80,000+ new IRS agents being required to have proficiency with pistols and rifles, and be willing to exercise deadly force?

That doesn’t sound like student loan forgiveness

No, according to my IRS agent BIL, the hiring is a) because they've been severely understaffed for years (and had their budget cut for years) and b) because Biden wants to go after the PPP fraudsters which IRS-CI will help handle.

IMO, the later point is pretty important. I know of several "self employed" people who got pretty high dollar PPP loans who then took extravagant vacations that they wouldn't normally have taken.

Even a local YouTube family that I follow is guilty of this.

It's a no from me, dawg.

I was duped by GenX and Boomers into these loans. I was promised that the opportunities after college would be worth the loans taken out. Then y'all fked the economy in '08 when I graduated and left me and thousands of others like me unable to find employment. I was a 22 year old competing with 40 year olds for entry level positions because everyone was just trying to find a job, even if that meant switching careers.

I'll probably never own a home. I make a good salary now, but it took me years to get there. All my extra money is going into my 401k and IRA not to my loan servicer. Fk them. They'll get their itty bitty payment each month and that's it.

I have many friends who are in the same boat with the same feelings. They make minimum payments and when times are hard, student loan payments are the first thing skipped. We don't give a fk about paying back shit.

You were 22 and competing with 40 year olds for jobs?

Geeez, that’s just terrible, Skyler. How awful. All those employers didn’t realize that you were a unique, special snowflake and they should’ve taken that into account and created a job JUST for you! The nerve!!!!

And as a 22 year old, didn’t all these companies realize how much smarter and more savvy you were than people 20 years older than you?!?!

It’s not taxable thru 2025. You can concern-troll about something else. You are welcome.

You get F in reading comprehension. She is saying it is terrible that the 20 year old and 40 year old are competing for entry level positions. Late stage capitalism.

That tweet uses a selectively edited screenshot. Vast majority of the 80K new hires will not be law enforcement officers or carry a gun.

The legislation hasn’t even passed yet, so that screen shot for a job listing is based on current needs and funding. The IRS needs law enforcement officers now.

I'm sorry but I don't see the student loan forgiveness happening. I do think the IRS has been understaffed and dwindled down to almost nothing for decades so they are about to ramp that back up.

Do they plan to tell people they are forgiving loans at gunpoint?

You do realize that many of these new hires are to fill posts of retirees as well as others who left the service and were not replaced at the time? And many will work in tech and admin - they are not all going to be agents.

DP

Nah I haven’t met a 20-something who thought they should accept an entry level position in several years now. We have summer interns every year who really do think they’re ready to be team leaders when they apply after graduation. In their minds they just skip over all those years in entry level. Millennials and Gen Z’s are very full of themselves and overly confident in their own abilities.

Well based on your atrocious writing and analytic skills you should be commended on getting a job at least. You’re a poster child for the losers of your generation.

No. I think it is about gradually replacing retiring workers over the next decade. It isn’t a net addition.
