I would go to JW Marco Island instead.

These two are not even remotely in the same area.

1. OP said they were thinking about booking so nothing confirmed.
2. We have stayed at the JW numerous times and have flown into FLL to save on $ when Ft. Myers is too pricey. It is a 1:50 drive. I would say that is remotely in the area.
3. As far as price, you get what you pay for.

A 2 hour drive? That’s like saying I want to stay in DC and someone recommends a hotel in Richmond.

You don't have the same traffic going form FLL to Ft Myers as you do from Richmond. Plenty of people fly into BWI and Stay in Arlington or Tyson to visit DC. That can take over an hour and a half.

I’ve stayed in this hotel, it’s pretty nice. Also check out the W Fort Lauderdale which is also lovely. There’s a few nice Marriotts in the area.

I work for Marriott and this was one of Mr Marriott and his family’s favorite hotels and they would go down annually.

There’s a huge portrait of both father and son in the lobby.

I agree, the JW Marco Island is probably nicer or any of the Saint Regis or Ritz-Carlton in Florida. But the harbor beach Marriott is a nice resort.

We stayed at the marriot Hollywood beach. Not sure how that compares. The kids liked it because they gave away free smoothies and the pool and they had free bikes to borrow.

It is obnoxious when hotels sell day passes to
Locals
Or cruise ship
People.
