Favorite olive oil?

Costco had a delicious Spanish olive oil a few years ago that I loved, but they never brought back. I was able to find the varietal-Hojiblanca-at Aldi last summer as one of their Aldi finds. They recently brought them back this summer, so I picked up multiple bottles. At about $5 a bottle, it’s a fantastic deal and it’s as good as the Costco version!

also greek people aren't stupid- they are just as likely as the Spanish or Italians to adulterate it with something else for export. I have way too much stuff in my house so buying food souvenirs brings me the most happiness. and you never know how fresh the imported stuff at the ethnic stores is.

Looong lines at the olive oil and greek specialty food shops at Athens airport. But great selection and quick service. You can find the shops after security too--perfect.

Not a WF shopper. I try to buy the oil in bottles specifying harvest month/year. Trader Joe's is the store where fresh crop unfiltered Italian oil appears first (bottles with white label). After that Costco starts carrying fresh batches - Italian, Spanish and California Olive Ranch.
Kalamata oil from TJs is also good in a pinch, but I do worry about foreign oils being added in that one.

I like California and Costco but love going to Olio in Fairfax to sample some and to try their different balsamics. I love that place.

California Olive Ranch for drizzling and dipping

Fairway used to have an excellent selection of olive oils and vinegars from all over the world. I'd get the Spanish extremadura variety, which is amazing for dipping sauces. I don't know if Fairway is still around... the one by my folks' house in NJ closed, which was a bummer.
