Noteworthy under the radar movies....

The Spanish apartment with Romain Duris - awesome. Also Russian Dolls but not quite as good as Spanish apartment.

White Palace with James Spader and Susan Sarandon

The Celebration / Festen. Danish. Wild movie about a family birthday. Intense and heartbreaking.

Not sure if 'cult' movies qualify as under the radar? Here are some films that are not too popular but have stayed with me (good and bad) over the years:

Bringing out the Dead
Harold and Maude
Teenage Dirtbag
Ghost World
Romance
The Royal Tenenbaums
Crash
Primer
Y Tu Mama Tambien
Solaris
Breaking the Waves
Dark City

I watched this movie so many times. I watched it first with my dad, probably when I was 13. Incredible.

Under the radar? it had a $10M budget and made $174M at the box office when it came out.

Yeah. I think all of these types of threads need to come with parameters - just because you missed it when it came out doesn't mean it was "under the radar."

+1 - I LOVE this movie. I am a little surprised to see it classed as under the radar, but that's probably accurate.

One of my favorite films. I've had it on DVD and Blu-Ray, but it was finally available streaming in the last 6 months to a year. So many great performances. Christian Bale is just phenomenal, Malkovich is also great, and there are a lot of other wonderful appearances in this movie. Highly recommend.

+1 for Amelie. Also suggest Girl With the Pearl Earring

Girl With the Pearl Earring - Scarlett Johansson's major adult breakthrough role, starring opposite Colin Firth, who was on fire at the time, and based on a massively popular book, was the complete inverse of under the radar.

If you haven't seen it, watch it. It's a great film, but it was in no way under the radar.

I nominate Z for Zachariah - 2015 film starring Margot Robbie, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Chris Pine.

Post-apocalyptic tale of a woman who survives a catastrophic event that wipes out most people and contaminates the land/water but doesn't touch her family's farm. She finds Ejiofor, a scientist that has survived, and later Chris Pine shows up.

There's a little too much love triangle going on, but overall solid performances. It's a slow burn and you really don't know how it's going to end.

I feel like Margot Robbie is so gorgeous that her talent is overlooked. She's really good in this as an earnest, naive, grieving small town farm girl.

there's a difference between niche and under the radar.

This sounds right up my alley! My favorite genre is post-apocalyptic.

Inside Man is not exactly under the radar but it was under appreciated, great suspense and acting by Denzel Washington
