DD is extremely emotional on day 2 of potty training.

Thank you for the responses - especially those you encouraged sticking with it! Hoorah!

I’m glad you didn’t quit, OP. People here quit at the first sign of resistance and it’s crazy. Quitting is really confusing for little kids.

Anonymous wrote:I disagree with PPs. If you had started earlier she wouldn't be having these emotions. Thousands of examples of 3 year olds refusing to train. You need to figure out why peeing on the floor is a high stakes fail. Likely it was an emotion from you. Turn it into a game. Find some poop books and stickers (etsy). Shaving cream in the bathtub and pee on it. Poop and pee in front of her so its not a top secret mystery.

Everybody poops - taro gomi

Earlier?? She's not even 2

Yes. Back in cloth diaper days average age to potty train was 18 months. Everyone challenges me on this but they never take me up on the offer to come wash some cloth diapers by hand for some reason...

I’m happy to read your follow up. I was about to write that our youngest DD had exactly the same reaction to the second day of potty training (also before two) and sadly handed back her rewards for peeing in the potty. She wanted underwear and so wanted to be like her older sisters but was sad to be giving up diapers. She knew it was forever (I think). The third day she was happy and proud. The rest of potty training went easily. We never even did nap diapers with her.

Keep going.

OP here and a last follow up: DD is self initiating pooping and peeing on the potty!! She’s so proud of herself and keeps saying she’s just like her older sibling. And she looks so cute in her undies!

Thank you again for telling me to keep going!

Of course she is! That was the entire point of your initial post, to update us on her success!

Wow. You’re cynical, PP. And have way too much time on your hands.
